How to choose a blog name(you won’t regret)

“Is Violet in the name? Or is the name in Violet?”

“Is Rose in the name? or is the name in Rose?”

Today we’ll be delving into how to choose a blog name (you won’t regret). I know a couple of blogs whose names are mind-boggling which is both a good and bad thing.

Here’s what we’ll be sharing.
One.Brainstorm ideas.
Two. Refine choice of name.
Three. Confirm availability across all social media.

First things first, I have to brutally honest, I do not. I repeat  I DO NOT REGRET my choice of blog name.
I will share why in just a bit. It exudes the royalty I am.

One.Brainstorm ideas.

Brainstorm on the ideas you’d like to blog about.

A few pointers while at it.
•Only include your name on your blog if it going or is a personal one. If you’re a newbie; consider what it will look like as a domain name; some of ya’ll have really long names such thereasonIdon’

•Think about the longevity; five, ten years down the road. Would you like to be referred to as that?

•Research on blogs with your similar interests or what you’d like to blog about.

This is why I chose because it triggers you. Don’t fight it! I know it gives you a sense of suspense. It is catchy, pretty easy on the tongue and easy to remember.

Research related words, in my case happiness= ecstatic.

Tip; Use a name generator for more ideas.

Another question, I hear frequently is why I didn’t go with my name Patsy. In the spirit of honesty, the naked truth is I am so African.

I’d rather go with Mugabi vs Patsy. Also, some people need kiboko(strokes of the cane), especially you who thinks my name is Patricia. I will not dispute that my name  Patsy is short for Patricia but I am just Patsy according to my birth certificate.Patsy/Patricia/Patrick all mean noble, however, patsy also as a noun can mean a weakling. (How I was bullied in school for this, maybe that explains why my confidence grew the size of Africa.) I don’t find captivating! But like they say, one man’s meat is another man’s poison.

So here’s why I settled for justified ecstasy. Justified like a renown poem says; why I hate religion and love God! Before you judge me, hear me out; I felt something like what the adulterous woman( who was to be stoned) felt; religious people kept shoving my misdeeds down my throat! Quick question; Is salvation really free if you don’t feel the liberty it comes with?

So I decided to recommit my life for the final time(DON’T ask how many altar calls I attended ) on a relationship basis. I was tired of all the rules, I solely wanted a relationship with God; Someone who feels like the sun and rain at the same time. (Someone to share the good, bad, ugly and everything in between.)

So I really loved the word justified inspired from Galatians 2;16 ‘’ We know very well that we are not set right with God by rule-keeping but only through personal faith in Jesus Christ. How do we know? We tried it—and we had the best system of rules the world has ever seen! Convinced that no human being can please God by self-improvement, we believed in Jesus as the Messiah so that we might be set right before God by trusting in the Messiah, not by trying to be good.”

Anyway, so that explains the first part. The second part “Ecstasy” because writing for me is cathartic. It is my therapy. This is how I breathe. It makes delectable !okay let me stop with the English. So I settled for ecstasy contrary to the notion of being a drug, it means an extreme state of happiness.

Real talk though, I wish I could use a blog name that’s more local in terms of language because our languages are so diverse.

Two. Refine your choice of name.
Decide your target audience and incorporate it within your blog name, for example, A kitchen in Uganda will probably excite your taste buds, Nzuri Textures about hair, Living with Sharon is definitely spells out lifestyle, you get my drift, yes?

Three. Confirm its availability across all social media for consistency purposes as we shared in last week’s post. I recommend .com because it leaves room to expand. Imagine a site extension with .ug like and yet I am based in Kampala and Nairobi.

Bonus Tip; I recommend Go daddy for Domain name registration because of there’s usually a coupon available from
